Cold wax and encaustic are the vehicles for translating my inner vision to outer reality.

I’m primarily inspired by nature and synthesize elements from around me into imagery that’s more subtle and abstract. I employ traditional techniques and materials to bring my ideas into physical form, but my unconscious guides the process. Intentional and accidental take turns as this unfolds.

My life has revolved around art and creative endeavors. I’ve enjoyed a long career as a graphic designer using my sensibilities and skills to create books and marketing materials for publishers and corporations. As an artist, I engage these same abilities but have the added freedom of infusing my work with inspiration found all around me.

Creating art is the most powerful response I know of to living in this world. It allows me to communicate thoughts and feelings, the passage of time, and the experience of moving through and observing our incredible world — from the monumental to the minute — in a form that’s unbound from words, yet which speaks to everyone.
